Splurge Urge: Framed Vintage Magazine Covers

So I have had picture walls on the brain for a little bit now.  Remember when I found these frames?  Today over on Little Green Notebook there was a post about these wonderful Vogue cover frame walls.

Fantastic right?

There is a website, The Conde Nast Store, where you can buy these Vogue covers, which are more like pieces of art, pre-framed and matted.  Sounds to good to be true?  Weeellllll...they cost about $200.  Which when you think about getting a piece of art that is framed framed it sounds pretty reasonable, but just not in my budget!

I'm hoping to find some vintage mags in my thrifting adventures and frame them up with a cheaper frame to get the same look.  I found some vintage magazines in college and affixed them to my walls with mod-podge, so I was on the right track, just not yet sophisticated enough, and completely broke back then.  Last I heard they were still there.

Can someone just magically gift me their collection of Vogue covers from the 20's and 30's...k thanks!

  2. Look for a calender with vintage fashion pictures. Much cheaper and they are usually all the same size, which helps when framing! Good luck! I love the idea.

  3. What a great idea Betsy! I've seen calendars that I loved before....now to get one on sale since it isn't really calendar buying time...that would be the trick!

Thanks for the comments Jordan and Chelsea!

  4. Evie, I found a couple on ebay. I like this one from 1925.

If you don't care all that much about authenticity and just want the look they have a thing on eCrater where you can get them via jpeg and save to your computer and print them out.. not such a bad idea if you want to do it cheaply.

By they way, and I have never done this before, I picked up a junk chair today on my street. Watch for a future bloggorama..
